Game Design Workshop at Art Futura
Centre de Cultura Contemporà nia de Barcelona

Like Ars Electronica (see below), Art Futura is an exposition and conference on contemporary technological art. I taught my first-ever workshop on game design, a three-hour event in which the 27 participants created five new, never-before-seen game designs. We had great time and learned a lot from each other. I also took part in a discussion about computer games as an art form, which seemed to be very well received. (You can read more on that subject in my lecture Will Computer Games Ever Be A Legitimate Art Form?) And I was privileged to spend several minutes chatting with Paul Friedlander, one of the stars of the exhibition, a former physicist and rocket scientist who creates hypnotically beautiful kinetic sculptures out of light and moving objects.
